High Speed DSL FAQs

What is High Speed DSL?
PrineTIME High Speed DSL service gives you the ability to transmit high-speed data and voice traffic over your telephone line. At speeds ranging from 256k to 1.5mb, you'll be able to use your telephone while you're connected to the Internet. High Speed DSL is a constant connection that does not require a separate phone line to be able to access the internet and use your home phone at the same time.

What do I need for High Speed DSL?
A DSL modem is required for PrineTIME High Speed DSL service. Modems are available in either the standard model or the wireless capable model.

How is my High Speed DSL set up?
Once we qualify your telephone line for service and place the DSL order it takes 3-5 days for your phone line to be activated and ready for DSL service. The DSL modem will be configured in office. Once configured, the modem is ready and can easily be self-installed at home. With a few simple steps and placement of phone filters you are ready to get on the Internet.

What are phone filters? Do I need to use them?
Phone filters must be used with your PrineTIME High Speed DSL to ensure optimal performance. These filters eliminate the higher-end frequencies used for your high-speed access. When phone filters are not used, or not installed correctly, you'll experience static on your telephone line and a slower Internet connection.

How can I optimize my modem's performance?
Run Anti-Virus and Spyware software on a regular basis to remove any viruses or spyware.

Can I use PrineTIME High Speed DSL on multiple computers?
Yes, PrineTIME High Speed DSL can be used on multiple computers in the same household. To do this you need computers that are wireless capable. You also need either a wireless modem or a router.

Why can't I access the Internet?
Try "power-cycling" your modem.
Unplug the black power cord from the back of the modem.
Wait 15 seconds and then plug it back in.
The Internet light on the front of the modem will be blinking as it initializes, and then becomes a steady light. This could take several minutes.
